Desired Broadus's help in securing the position of professor of Greek in the University of Virginia. May 17. Enclosed a letter from Dr. [R.B.C.] Howell of Richmond. He had heard that the professorship might be offered to Broadus, but if Broadus did not want it, Shelton would appreciate his help. June 19. Thanked Broadus for his letter of 31st May. Wrote of his familiarity with the methods of instruction in the University of Virginia.
